Skincare and body products in a home with dogs or cats

With products you apply to your own skin, the basic rule is to keep pets from licking the applied area, your hands, or used tissues. Take extra care with products high in essential oils and with topical medicines.

How to use them

  1. Don't apply products meant for people to your pet.
  2. Wash your hands after applying.
  3. Until it dries, keep pets from licking or rubbing against the applied area.If it rubs off on pillows or bedding, keep pets off that spot.
  4. Put used tissues, sheets, cotton pads and empty containers in a bin with a lid.
  5. Close the cap and store it out of your pet's reach.

If your pet licked it or seems off

If your pet seems different from usual after licking the applied area or the product, take the product with you and contact your vet right away.
